How it works

Set it up once. Print it from every order.

  1. Upload your PDF and draw a box for each entry

    Start with a design you already print, like a birthday card or a certificate. Draw a box where each entry goes, then choose its font, color and alignment.

  2. Add the Noteable Fields block to your product page

    In the theme editor, add the block to your product template. Shoppers fill in the fields before they add the item to their cart.

  3. Download the finished PDF from the order and print it

    Open the order, choose More actions, then Noteable. Download one PDF per item, one merged PDF or a ZIP, and pack the print with the order.

Design the template once. Noteable fills it in for every order, in your fonts and your layout.

Your design, set in real type

Upload the PDF you already print and decide how every entry looks on it.

  • Your own PDF, up to 10 MB. Multi-page documents work.
  • 27 font families, with custom color, bold and italic.
  • Left, center or right alignment.
  • Long messages wrap onto several lines, keeping the shopper’s line breaks, or are trimmed to fit.
  • Letters like Ł, ő and ř print, and so do Cyrillic, Greek and Vietnamese. Emoji print in your text color.

Fields that ask the right way

Collect exactly what the card needs, and print it the way it should read.

  • Text, number and date fields, including multi-line boxes for longer messages.
  • Set a character limit on a text field, and shoppers see a count as they type.
  • A label, placeholder and help text on every field.
  • Required fields, which shoppers are asked to fill in when they add the item to the cart from its product page.
  • An opt-in checkbox, such as “Add a gift message”. The fields only show to shoppers who tick it.
  • Format dates and numbers, or change text case.
  • Add fixed text around an entry, so “Emma” prints as “Happy birthday, Emma!”

Set up once for your catalog

Choose where each template applies, then check that your theme is ready.

  • Apply a template to specific products or whole collections, with a priority for when several match.
  • Preview a template with test values.
  • A theme setup check shows which product templates still need the block.
  • Works on Online Store 2.0 themes. The block follows your theme’s styles, or uses a light or dark look.

Which themes does Noteable work with?

Online Store 2.0 themes. The Noteable Fields block follows your theme’s styles, or uses a light or dark look, and a theme setup check shows which product templates still need it.

Can I use my own design?

Yes. Upload any PDF up to 10 MB, including multi-page documents. Then draw a box where each entry goes and choose its font, color and alignment.

What can shoppers fill in?

Text, number and date fields, including multi-line boxes for longer messages. Give a text field a character limit, and shoppers see a count as they type. Each field has a label, a placeholder and help text, so shoppers know what to enter. You can make a field required, and show the fields only to shoppers who tick a checkbox, such as “Add a gift message”. If they leave it unticked, no entries are saved with their order.

Where are the entries saved?

On the order, as line item properties, so you can also see them in your Shopify admin.

How do I print the PDFs?

Open the order in your Shopify admin, choose More actions, then Noteable. Download one PDF per item, one merged PDF or a ZIP, and print on your own printer.

What counts as a personalized order?

An order you download or print PDFs for. Each order counts once a month, however many times you download its PDFs. Your plan sets how many personalized orders you can have each month.

What if I go over my plan’s orders?

Noteable won’t stop you halfway through packing. It lets you know once you’ve used 80% of your monthly orders. Past your limit, new orders keep printing for another 20% of it while you upgrade (20 more on Starter), and a batch you’ve started always finishes. After that, new orders wait until you upgrade or the next month starts. Orders you’ve already printed that month still print.

How does billing work?

Every plan starts with a 14-day free trial. After that, Shopify bills you monthly or yearly, on your store’s bill.
