Gift message cards for florists on Shopify

Updated

A bouquet usually goes out with a small card in the sender’s words. With Noteable, the shopper writes To, the message and From on your product page, and you print them on your own enclosure card, for one order or a batch of orders.

Short answer

Add Noteable’s block to your arrangement pages so shoppers fill in To, the message and From. Upload your enclosure card as a PDF at its real size, then print the morning’s cards together from the Orders page.

All day

A card with every arrangement

The card is the one part of a bouquet in the sender’s own words. Copying each message from the order by hand is slow on a busy morning, and a misspelled name is hard to put right once the delivery has left.

With Noteable, the shopper types the card on your product page, and it prints as they wrote it, on your own card.

When a shopper orders

The fields: To, the message and From

Your card’s template in Noteable has three fields, and Noteable’s block shows them on your arrangement pages. In the theme editor, add the Noteable Fields block to your product template.

  • To, one line for the recipient’s name.
  • The message, a multi-line box with a character limit, so the longest message still fits the card.
  • From, one line for the sender.

Noteable Fields

Noteable’s block on an arrangement page. Shoppers can’t type past the limit you set, so the longest message still fits the card.

Add a checkbox such as “Add a card message” if some shoppers don’t want one: the fields show only once it’s ticked. The entries are saved with each arrangement, so each one in an order can have its own card.

Setting up, once

Your enclosure card, as a PDF at its real size

  1. Export your card as a PDF at the size you print. From Canva, Word or your design app, at your enclosure card’s size, such as 3.5 × 2 in or A7.
  2. Upload it and mark where the words go. Upload the PDF to Noteable, up to 10 MB. Draw a box for To, the message and From, and choose a font, color and alignment for each, from 27 font families, handwriting fonts included.
  3. Preview it with a long message. Type a message at your character limit to check that it fits. Long messages wrap onto several lines and keep the shopper’s line breaks.

Every morning

Printing a morning’s orders

  1. Find the orders to pack. Turn on order tagging in Noteable’s settings, and each new order with entries gets the “Noteable” tag. On the Orders page, filter by the tag and by Unfulfilled.
  2. Print all their cards at once. Select the orders, then choose Print Noteables. If you select more orders than one batch takes, Noteable prints the first ones and tells you, so print the rest in another batch.
  3. Print at actual size. Choose 100%, not “fit to page”, so each card comes out at the size you designed.

Good to know

What Noteable doesn’t do

If you use a delivery date app, keep it for the date. Noteable doesn’t print its fields.

Questions

Can I print florist enclosure cards on a home printer?

Yes. The PDF is your own card design at its real size, so any printer that takes your card stock can print it. Print at actual size (100%), not “fit to page”.

How long can a card message be?

You choose. Set a character limit on the message field so the longest message still fits the box you drew on the card, and shoppers see a count as they type. Long messages wrap onto several lines and keep the shopper’s line breaks.

Can each arrangement in an order have its own card?

Yes. The entries are saved with each item, so each arrangement gets its own card with its own To, message and From.

Does it work with my delivery date app?

They collect different things. Keep the delivery date in your delivery app, and collect the card’s To, message and From in Noteable’s block: Noteable doesn’t print another app’s fields. Place a test order with both before a busy day.
